Hemp grown for industrial purposes may be treated with harsh chemicals and solvents in the manufacturing process, leaving any resulting hemp oil unfit for consumption. Because our hemp is grown in ideal conditions to produce our CBD hemp oil supplements, we never use harmful chemicals in our extraction process. Instead, we extract our hemp oil using supercritical CO2, which the FDA considers GRAS or generally regarded as safe. This chemical process allows us to ensure that our CBD hemp oil supplements are always free from contamination to best protect the health of your family.
There is significant preliminary research supporting the potential therapeutic value of CBD, and while it is not yet sufficient to support drug approval, it highlights the need for rigorous clinical research in this area. There are barriers that should be addressed to facilitate more research in this area. We appreciate the opportunity to testify on the potential use of CBD for therapeutic purposes. Thank you again for inviting me here today, and I look forward to any questions you may have.
Mr. Chairman, Ms. Chairwoman, and Members of the Senate Drug Caucus, thank you for inviting the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), to participate in this hearing to share what we know about the biology and the potential therapeutic effects of cannabidiol (CBD), one of the main active chemical compounds found in marijuana. In light of the rapidly evolving interest in the potential use of marijuana and its derivative compounds for medical purposes, it is important to take stock of what we know and do not know about the therapeutic potential of CBD.
Want all the benefits of CBD hemp oil in a simple capsule? There’s no easier way to get your daily intake of all-natural CBD than with powerful Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ (RSHO™) capsules. Packed into each RSHO™ capsule is minimally processed, full-spectrum CBD hemp oil, offering 25 mg of CBD. The Blue Label RSHO™ oil used in these capsules isn’t filtered of its valuable chlorophyll and nutrients and goes through a process called decarboxylation to activate the plant’s CBD. The capsules are also formulated with 200 mg of calcium, and 200 mg of our proprietary blend of powdered turmeric root and white willow bark. One capsule taken 1-2 times daily is all it takes to add CBD hemp oil supplements to your diet.
Third-Party Testing: Once a CBD oil is manufactured, CBD oil companies will often submit their products for third-party tests, which are conducted by non-company personnel to ensure the product is safe for public consumption and meets quality standards.CBD oils should always be accompanied with information about third-party tests; best practice is to avoid oils that do not supply these details.
But because all these products are illegal according to the federal government, cannabis advocates are cautious. “By and large, the federal government is looking the other way,” says Paul Armentano, deputy director of the Washington, DC–based National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), but until federal laws are changed, “this administration or a future one could crack down on people who produce, manufacture, or use CBD, and the law would be on its side.”

The endocannabinoid system is spread throughout your brain and body, but primarily throughout your central nervous system. The interaction between cannabinoids and receptors is what produces effects like the regulation of mood, pain, appetite, inflammation, and memory. Plant-based cannabinoids, found in cannabis plants, also interact with the receptors (whimsically named CB1 and CB2) in the endocannabinoid system, and each affects your body in different ways. CBD and its infamous cousin THC are the 2 most well-known cannabinoids.

Thank you for your questions. Marijuana and hemp are two extremely different strains of the same cannabis sativa plant that have been bred over thousands of years to have entirely different purposes. (Hemp is not the male version of the marijuana plant.) They both contain CBD. Hemp only contains CBD whereas marijuana contains CBD and perhaps a hundred or so other chemicals with a variety of functions, such as THC, the molecule that makes people “high”. Any medicine can have different effects on different people. For example, Benadryl makes some people sleepy yet can make others wide-awake. So, it is not inconsistent for a particular medicine to cause a symptom in one person and to help alleviate it in another. So while many people experience relaxation with CBD, so people do experience the “paradoxical” effect of irritability.
Take care not to apply CBD oil before bathing, or taking part in an activity that will make you sweat. Water will only wash away the oil from your skin before it has time to absorb and get to work. Excessive sweat can also prevent the oil from penetrating the skin. Instead, apply the topical, such as a CBD lotion for pain, after bathing and drying your skin.
